About Me
I hold an MFA from the American Film Institute in Cinematography, and a BFA from Columbia College Chicago in Film & Television Production.
In addition to having worked in the high-speed film industry and served as cinematographer on multiple productions I have 15 years of experience teaching motion picture production at a graduate and undergraduate level.
In my current teaching position at the Savannah College of Art and Design, I am certainly known as the tinkerer of the department. As a result, I have taught stereoscopic filmmaking. VR filmmaking and have shot a holographic film in Hong Kong with my students.
What perhaps sets me apart the most is my commitment to learning new technology. During the COVID shutdown I used my extra time to learn the use of Unreal Engine as a filmmaking tool. This attracted the attention of Epic Games who in turn invited me into the prestigious UE Fellowship program of August 2021.
Shortly thereafter, my department at the Savannah College of Art and Design, purchased an XR volume and tasked me with the creation of a curriculum for a minor incorporating the volume and the Engine. I am SCAD’s exclusive film faculty teaching Unreal Filmmaking and XR Volume Production. My work in this field, and my continued commitment to learning has opened the door into Epic’s first World Building Fellowship, which I am currently attending, and an invitation by CG-Pro in Los Angeles, to teach Unreal Cinematography classes, and to participate in their first teacher’s development workshop in December.
Be it traditional, or cutting-edge technology, filmmaking is my passion and I find this to be an incredible time for young filmmakers to learn their craft and for me to help them tell their stories.
